The Preparatory Department of the Odessa International Academy for Foreign Citizens is a structural subdivision of OIA and operates in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine. The basis for the branch creation is Article 30 of the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education”.
Regulations on the preparatory department for foreign citizens
The preparatory department tasks are to prepare students of the preparatory department from among foreign citizens in the veterinary medicine direction.
The educational process organization is carried out at the proper scientific and methodological levels to prepare foreigners for training in the OIA and other HEIs of Ukraine.
For admission to the preparatory department for foreign citizens (Russian, Ukrainian languages of instruction), the candidate must receive an official study invitation to enter Ukraine.

To obtain an entry visa for the studying purpose in Ukraine, an applicant needs to apply to the Embassy of Ukraine in his own or in a neighboring country with an application for an entry visa, attaching an invitation to study at OIA to the application. After receiving a visa, the applicant must inform OIA by e-mail or phone about the arrival date to Odessa and the flight number in order to be met by university representatives.
To pass customs control, foreigners must have with them: a passport with a visa; original invitation to study; funds in the amount of at least 3 thousand US dollars in cash or on a card to confirm their financial solvency; to know the purpose of arriving in Ukraine.
Upon arrival for training, foreigners must submit the following documents to the Department for Work with Foreign Citizens, legalized in accordance with the established procedure:

The extension of the stay period in Ukraine is carried out in the bodies of the state migration service on the basis of a written request from the University, which is being prepared by the Department for Work with Foreign Citizens. The application is submitted no later than three working days from the date a foreigner submits his national passport (or a document that replaces it) to the University.
Note. A return ticket with an open date of return to the homeland for a period of up to one year can be replaced by a voluntary liability insurance contract for reimbursement of expenses related to the decision implementation to expel from Ukraine. Such an agreement is drawn up through the Department for Work with Foreign Citizens.
OIA students are provided with a hostel.
Entry and admission to the preparatory department for foreigners is carried out throughout the year.
The beginning of classes at the preparatory department is October the1st.
The study term at the preparatory department is 10 months.
After completing the curriculum and passing the session, the student of the preparatory department receives a certificate of completion of the preparatory department. A state-recognized certificate obtained by a foreigner allows a graduate of the preparatory department to continue their studies at the OIA, as well as in any Institution of higher education of Ukraine. Foreigners who have a certificate of graduation from the preparatory department of another higher educational institution in Ukraine are enrolled in the first year of the university for vacancies based on the results of the interview.
If a foreigner does not master the language at the proper level and does not pass the session at the preparatory department, he has the right to continue his studies next year.
