The Preparatory Department of the Odesa International Academy for Foreign Citizens is a structural subdivision of the OIA and operates in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine. The legal basis for the establishment of the department is Article 30 of the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education”.

The tasks of the preparatory department are to train students of the preparatory department from among foreign citizens in the field of veterinary medicine.

The organization of the educational process is carried out at the appropriate scientific and methodological levels to prepare foreigners for studying at the UMA and other higher education institutions of Ukraine.

To enter the preparatory department for foreign citizens (Russian and Ukrainian languages of instruction), a candidate must receive an official invitation to study to enter Ukraine.

To receive an invitation, you must:

  1. Fill out the application-questionnaire and send it by e-mail to the preparatory department of the OMA with a request for admission to the university;
    Write a motivational letter;
    Provide written consent to the processing of personal data;
    Send a copy of the passport (full name, citizenship, date of birth, passport number, address of permanent residence) in English;
    Send a copy of the education document with a list of subjects studied and grades in English.

    In order to obtain an entry visa for the purpose of studying in Ukraine, the applicant must apply to the Embassy of Ukraine in his or a neighboring country with an application for obtaining an entry visa, adding to the application an invitation to study at OMA. After receiving the visa, the applicant must inform the OMA by e-mail or phone about the date of arrival in the city of Odesa and the flight number in order to be met by representatives of the university.

    To pass customs control, foreigners must have with them: a passport with a visa; the original invitation to study; funds in the amount of at least 3 thousand US dollars in cash or on a card to confirm your financial solvency; to know the purpose of coming to Ukraine.

    Upon arrival for study, foreigners must submit the following legalized documents to the Department for Work with Foreign Citizens:

    Application in the name of the President of the University;
    The original and translation of the first page of the passport (surname, first name) in Ukrainian, notarized in Ukraine;
    The original and a copy of the document on education and grades obtained from academic disciplines (certificate or diploma), translated into Ukrainian and notarized in Ukraine;
    A document on the absence of HIV infection;
    A medical certificate on the state of health, certified by the health care authority of the country from which the foreigner arrived, and issued no later than two months before entering Ukraine;
    12 photos, size 3.5×4.5 cm, color, matte;
    A return ticket with an open date of departure for a period of 1 (one) year for returning to the homeland.

    After enrolling in studies, foreigners in the Department for Work with Foreign Citizens must:

    Draw up an agreement on the provision of educational services (training);
    Pay tuition fees;
    Extend the period of stay in Ukraine;
    Take out an insurance policy for the provision of medical assistance;
    Draw up a contract of voluntary liability insurance for reimbursement of expenses related to the execution of the decision on deportation outside Ukraine;
    Carry out the nostrification procedure of education documents at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine during the first semester.

    The extension of the period of stay in Ukraine is carried out in the bodies of the state migration service on the basis of a written application of the University, which is prepared by the Department for Work with Foreign Citizens. The appeal is submitted no later than three working days from the date the foreigner submitted his national passport (or a document that replaces it) to the University.

    Note. A return ticket with an open date of return to the homeland for a period of up to one year can be replaced by a voluntary liability insurance contract for the reimbursement of expenses related to the execution of a decision on deportation outside Ukraine. Such an agreement is drawn up through the Department for Work with Foreign Citizens.

    Students of OMA are provided with a dormitory.

    Entry and enrollment at the preparatory department for foreigners is carried out throughout the year.

    Classes at the preparatory department begin on October 1.

    The term of study at the preparatory department is 10 months.

    After completing the curriculum and successfully completing the session, the student of the preparatory department receives a certificate of completion of the preparatory department. A state certificate obtained by a foreigner allows a graduate of the preparatory department to continue studying at the OMA, as well as at any higher education institution of Ukraine. Foreigners who have a certificate of completion of the preparatory department of another higher educational institution of Ukraine are enrolled in the first course of the university for vacant places based on the results of the interview.

    If a foreigner does not master the language at the appropriate level and does not pass the session at the preparatory department, he has the right to continue his studies in the following year.
