Founder of cycling:

There is no founder of cycling as such, as bicycle racing began to develop naturally after the invention of the bicycle in the 19th century. The bicycle, in a form close to the modern one, was invented in the mid-19th century, and the first bicycle races began shortly thereafter.

The main organization that controls this sport is the International Union of Cyclists. He is based in Switzerland.

History of cycling

The first version of the bicycle was invented in 1817 by Professor Carl von Dres. From that moment, the appearance and design of the bicycle changed.

In 1868, the world’s first bicycle race of 2,000 meters was held in the suburbs of Paris. In 1885-1886, Thomas Stevenson managed to complete the first round-the-world trip by bicycle. In 1896, cycling was included in the program of the Olympic Games.

Road cycling includes:

Olympic sports: team and individual race;
non-Olympic events: team, double, multi-day race, criterium and mountain tour.

Track cycling includes the following disciplines:

pursuit race (individual and team);
race for points;
hit
Madison;
keirin;
scratch
omnium;
elimination race.

There is also cyclocross, mountain biking and BMX.
